How to perform it

  1. Stand with your feet wide apart and your toes turned outward.
  2. Keep your spine upright, abs engaged, and chest open throughout the movement.
  3. Position your hands comfortably in front of your body.
  4. Begin by bending your knees and lowering your hips with control.
  5. Keep your knees aligned with the direction of your feet throughout the descent.
  6. Lower to a comfortable range of motion without losing posture or leaning your torso excessively forward.
  7. Press through your feet to return to the starting position.
  8. Exhale as you rise and inhale as you lower.

Work in the quadriceps, glutes, and adductors, with core participation for stabilization. The effort should remain controlled in the legs, without pain in the knees, hips, or lower back.
